I don't mean to come out as ignorant or anything, but Bernie Sanders is pretty old and it is unlikely that people will vote for him. Do you remember what happened to John McCain? People didn't vote for him because they thought he would die in the middle of his term. But, as fate would have it, he is still alive today. Anyway, I don't think that Bernie Sanders really has the "firepower" to get to the white house. This is only my opinion.

Ronald Reagan was 78 when he left office. Hillary is only 6 years younger than Bernie. Bernie runs daily and is in good physical health. He is doing the best out of any candidate, including Hillary, in 1v1 general election match ups. He destroyed the historical record for least amount of time to get to 1,000,000 donations. He has the most passionate fans out of anyone in either party, including Trump. All evidence shows that he is far more electable than Hillary, and the current polling data you see vs Hillary doesn't account for young voters and for voters who haven't participated in elections until now (because of Bernie).

2 Quick things, presidential elections is never voting for who the best candidate is, it's who the lesser of the evils is, which in this case Hillary and Trump are both pretty damn evil so that doesn't leave us with many choices already. Second thing, it doesn't really matter who gets elected cause as long as we have a system in place like the senate that sit on there for years and never leave, and when they finally do it gets passed off to someone basically identical, nothings going to change.

Magi, that's exactly why you should want Bernie as president. The reason that Congress is a piece of shit is because the system demands that they work for their donors, not for the people. Bernie is the only candidate who is going to actually try and get rid of money in politics. He's not guaranteed to succeed, but hes the best and only chance we have right now.
And if you think "oh its impossible to get rid of all corruption", I agree, but there's different levels of corruption. Some level of bribery and cronyism will almost certainly always exist to some extent, but the type of corruption we have right now is far worse. To win an election, especially more local ones, you have to have the same or more money than your opponent, otherwise you have no chance. Because of this, you have to take money from special interests, otherwise your opponent is going to take that special interest money and destroy you in the election. And ofc special interests are only going to donate to you if you do their bidding, so you end up with a system where you, except in very rare cases, have to both take special interest money and do their bidding, otherwise you won't end up with a seat in the government. The reason Bernie hasn't had to do this is because 1. he held office in Vermont, which gets very little attention in terms of special interest groups since its a small rural state 2. has a distinguished track record in every government position he's held 3. he is fantastic at getting people pumped and garnering tons of support so he can get a lot of small donations, like you are seeing now.
The solution to this extreme level of systematic corruption is to turn the campaign financing system into a publicly financed system. Under this system, every eligible voter would get some amount of money, say $100, and they would be allowed to either spend it on campaigns, or forfeit it. It would be illegal to donate any money not explicitly granted for donating and for trying to threaten someone to donate it to a certain candidate. Ofc there's still possibility for illegal money to get in, but it would be a lot harder than the system we have now where its 100% legal to donate as much money as you want to any Superpac you want without even having to disclose who you are.
